Is it legal for a car dealership to disconnect an ABS? (Anti-Lock Brake System)?

My friend took her car to the car dealer's shop, to get her brakes fixed. Long story short, they disconnected her ABS and installed manual brakes. (This is in Massachusetts if that matters) Is that legal for them to do? She owns a '95 Beauville Sport Van, with a V8. Is it legal for them to disconnect an ABS? (let me know if you need more info, but if you do, let me know what kind!)|||I don't think they should have done that It calls for ABS and is government regulated and suppose to be on all late models cars, I would take it back and have it returned back to factory specks, Let them know its the Gov, reg. hope this helps.|||seem like you just got reap off, either your friends was being cheap don't wanna pay for abs installation or the mechanic did the opposite and keep the money......|||hell no that would be like disconnecting the airbag or seatbelts and giving her the car back. ABS is one of the safety systems, she might have the makings of a real good case in court.|||What do you mean they Installed Manual Brakes? Do you mean they just messed it up sothe ABS light it on? Because removing the ABS is just um not likely.|||Yep, its perfectly legal. All you need to do is pull a fuse and no more ABS.|||no.

totally illegal.|||no ,it is to big of a liabilty ,no dealership would take that chance
